Toward Yesterday begins in 2042. Cars drive with AI and simplifying technology abounds, but the persistent human dilemmas continue. Soon they learn that they are in the exact location they were 25 years earlier. The disorientation and confusion lead to immediate chaos.

If You Like Books review: Wormhole by Richard Phillips

If you like: aliens * action movies * moral conflict

This review contains mild spoilers.

Wormhole is the third book of the Rho Agenda series. After meeting up with Jack and Janet at the end of book two, Heather, Jennifer, and Mark enter into an elaborate training program. It provides them with the tactical, technological, and covert expertise they will need in order to stop the opening of the wormhole created by Dr. Stephenson. As they are still teens, they eventually succumb to the desire to speak with their parents and reassure them they are okay, which puts their secret location in jeopardy. They must use their new skills to escape detention, infiltrate the group at CERN, and stop the final escalation of the alien technology.

If You Like Books review: Feed by M.T. Anderson

If you like: the internet * dystopian futures * life imitating art

Feed is set in the not too distant future when people have implants that allow them to have all the functions of a computer or smartphone embedded into their neurological system. This has all the benefits that you could imagine, as well as all of the consequences. After being maliciously hacked while on spring break on the Moon, Titus and his friends are temporarily shut off from the network. While most recover with no issues, Violet’s connection is never corrected. Her life slowly unravels as her feed becomes increasingly dysfunctional.

If You Like Books review: Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor

If you like: war * destiny * resurrection

Days of Blood and Starlight is the sequel to Daughter of Smoke and Bone (see my review here). Karou continues to be devastated by the loss of her loved ones. She must face siding with Thiago and supporting the chimaera or run away from her destiny. Her position is tenuous and she never instills confidence in those who feel betrayed by her transgression with Akiva. On the other hand, Akiva must appear to be fighting the chimaera compellingly enough to blend in with the other angels while still hoping to find a way to achieve peace.

If You Like Books review: Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

If you like: relationships * betrayal * celebrity

Gone Girl is the story of Nick and Amy — their relationship, marriage, and the eventual unraveling of both. Amy is missing, and all signs point to her murder at the hands of her husband. Nick claims innocence, but, in addition to the irrefutable evidence against him, he has been having an affair for over a year. Nick does not seem trustworthy, but there is just enough doubt to leave the reader wondering if he could be innocent after all.
